Farm Credit Services of North Dakota representatives were in Stanley on Wednesday, Feb. 10 to present Mountrail County Medical Center with a $25,000 check. The funds come from the Rural Community Grant Fund and have been used to help fund upgrades to the nurses call station.

MCMC CEO Rocky Zastoupil, Mountrail County Health Foundation Director Steph Everett, and MCMC Chief of Staff Dr. Mark Longmuir were pleased to accept the check to utilize the grant funds towards this facility enhancement.

ìFarm Credit is proud to provide grant funds to enhance the facility at Mountrail County Medical Center,î says Claude Sem, CEO of Farm Credit Services of North Dakota. Mountrail County Medical Center, as a central healthcare and emergency services provider in western North Dakota, provide essential services to the community. Farm Credit Services believes it is important to give back to the community. ìMountrail County Medical Center has seen a significant increase in providing emergency services with the impact of oil exploration in the area. Their efficiency and ability to respond will be greatly improved with this upgrade to their facility. We are proud to be able to assist them in building a nurses call station,î said Sem.

The new call station will allow staff to differentiate between the type of call from a patient room. With different buttons, lights above the doors, and notification tones in the facility, they can tell if it is a simple request from the patient, an emergency code blue, possibly a fall or other incident with a patient, or even a need for mechanical maintenance.

Farm Credit Services of North Dakota, Farm Credit Services of Mandan and AgriBrank, established the Rural Community Grant Fund to assist in the implementation and development of projects and programs in communities and rural areas in western North Dakota which have been impacted by mining exploration. The Rural Community Grant Fund is currently accepting applications for future funding requests. Interested parties can apply at www.farmcreditnd.com.
