She received her Bachelors in Social Work from Minot State University in 2002 and her masters from Northwest Nazarene University in Nampa, Idaho in 2012
Tara received her certification in Accelerated Resolution Therapy(ART) in 2024. ART is an evidence based approach to psychotherapy and can be used to treat anxiety, depression, post-traumatic stress disorder, post-traumatic symptoms, grief, and many other stressors or challenges in day to day life. ART uses eye movement to allow the client to change negative images and sensations associated with the presenting problem. It is done quickly and sometimes negative images and sensations can be addressed in a single session! If you would like to learn more about ART you can go to: https://acceleratedresolutiontherapy.com/evidence-based/
Tara is also trained in Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing Therapy (EMDR); which has some similarities to ART and can treat many of the same conditions. EMDR also uses eye movements to aid in processing negative emotions and sensations associated with the presenting problem. You can learn more about EMDR at : What is EMDR? – EMDR Institute – EYE MOVEMENT DESENSITIZATION AND REPROCESSING THERAPY
One of the most noted differences between EMDR and ART is the amount of time that it may take to achieve long lasting results.
Both EMDR and ART are evidence based treatment approaches and effective in working with trauma, depression, anxiety and other stressors.
Tara has also trained in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) Trauma Focused CBT (TF-CBT), Prolonged Exposure Therapy (PE) and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT).
As a clinician; she likes to provide education for my clients so that you can be involved in deciding which treatment approach feels the best for you.
Tara works with individuals throughout the lifespan to address a variety of concerns including depression, anxiety, trauma and other life disturbing events. If you are interested in learning more or if you are ready to schedule an appointment please reach out to MCMC.
